MEET THE ARTIST
It all began with a Dream of Going Places….
Whether its watercolors where I splash and flick paint in a mindful and crafted way or pastels with my expressive mark making, these help me create from the beauty that I see surrounding me. Painting has always been my passion, it took me a while to get the courage to go out there and share the works I’ve created. It’s as if I was putting my soul on display. During 2020, I spent many weeks dreaming of all the places I wanted to go, to see wide open spaces and reflect nature from my brushstrokes, the paint, the pastels, the paper and my heart. This allowed me, actually forced me, to pull out the stash of paintings I’ve had in my drawers and cubbies. I am so excited that I embarked on this part of the artistic journey, finding these amazing pieces again reignited the spark in me.
In my Life……
I like going barefoot and once spent a glorious week of vacation without shoes.
On a bus trip to the Morrison stronghold on the north tip of the Isle of Lewis, I discovered that everyone on the bus was either a Morrison or married to one.
In a quick draw with 2 1/2 hrs. to paint, I missed a 1/2 hr, spilled water on my shoes and stood on the bare earth in the marsh and taped my painting in the frame as I had brought one with the wrong dimensions. So much to my surprise, the judge who was a representational painter awarded me first place and called my painting “wild”.
I desire to capture the aliveness of a place and the translucent moment when the world stands still, and so I paint from a place of intuition deep inside The colors I chose flow from my soul and create the wonder people feel when they look at my paintings. The passion I feel when I paint is expressed, as one of my recent clients told me, in each finished piece. She said she could feel the calm and love in the painting.
Let the art heal, calm, excite, inspire and remind you to dream. As that’s what all art does. We all know life is short and beauty is forever.
My work has been showcased at the Art-a-Fair Festival (2023-2025) in Laguna Beach, CA, SOCALPAPA (Southern California Plein Air Painters, LPAPA (Laguna Beach Plein Air Painters Association) Shows and is held in private collections. In addition, I am a member of Watercolor West and the Pastel Society of the West Coast.
